Your say on what to teach young people about farming

What knowledge, experiences and skills should every young person have, relating to food, farming and the countryside? This is a chance for you to have a say on this important question.

FACE needs your help to produce a clear guide for teachers, government, resource providers and the food and farming sectors themselves so that ultimately, every young person can fully appreciate the important role that farming and food supply plays in their own lives and in wider society.

Many young people complete their education without having a clear understanding of how food is produced and the role that farmers play in caring for the countryside.

Greater understanding and insight on the food and farming sector can only raise public awareness and potentially encourage students to follow academic or vocational courses in farming.

This is the ambition behind the FACE questionnaire, explains CEO Dan Corlett, which aims to:

  • deliver a strong case for young people to learn about their food and countryside
  • direct the design of future food and farming teaching resources
  • inform national educational policy

Your support in completing the questionnaire is crucial to potentially informing how food and farming is taught in schools in the future.
