Duchy College is a large specialist land based college with Campuses on the Devon and Cornwall border at Stoke Climsland and at Roswewarne in West Cornwall. Rosewarne has an estate of 47ha reflective of the field scale mixed cropping of West Cornwall with excellent horticultural facilities including large modern glasshouses, micropropagation, plant collections and laboratories.At Stoke Climsland we farm nearly 700 acres with 300 dairy cows, arable cropping and a range of livestock enterprises.

What we do

Duchy College has extended its range of services and partnerships well beyond these campus boundaries. We manage one of the largest and best quality landbased apprenticeship programmes in the country working with business all over Devon, Cornwall and into Somerset and Dorset, with over 350 young people and business involved on programmes every year.

Our Rural Business School (www.cornwall.ac.uk/rbs ) works all over the region in partnership with many business and providers and has engaged with huge numbers of business over recent years. Its management of regional rural development training programmes have seen in excess of 9000 people per year taking part in training and development. Our Challenge of Rural Leadership post graduate programme that we run in partnership with the Worshipful Company of Farmers attracts managers from farming businesses and the allied industries internationally and Nationally. Duchy College is a partner in Rural Business Research (www.fbspartnership.co.uk ) who currently hold the contract to deliver the UK Farm Business Survey. We work regionally in the food sector though our Food Innovation Service (www.foodinnovation.co.uk) assisting food business grow and develop using the best of technical expertise and access to our state of the art Agri-Food Innovation Centre.

We are also a founder member of the Pensinsula Partnership for the Rural Environment (www.ppre.ac.uk) . A collaboration between Duchy College, the Universities of Exeter and Plymouth and North Wyke Research. The mission is of PPRE is to invest in and strengthen the links between food and farming businesses and research.

We seek to be involved in projects that aid young people to enter our industries and that invest in the resources and facilities that support their learning and student experience.

We also seek to be involved projects that assist our work with business and industry to foster better knowledge exchange , business take up of R&D, and to strengthen farmer led applied research and development. Projects that help fund the resources for this kind of work are also highly valued.

Themes include Resource Management, Animal Health and Welfare, Information and Communications Technology, Adding Value and the Food Chain.

We are very proud of our record of work in equality and diversity. We are also keen to work on more projects that encourage those under represented in our land-based industries to become involved.
