Who we are:

AHDB, Cereals & Oilseeds, is the cereals and oilseeds division of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB). Our vision is to create a dynamic UK arable supply chain where all are able to profit from a sustainable sector. AHDB, Cereals & Oilseeds, aims to deliver a world class arable industry through independence, innovation and investment. It funds research, knowledge transfer, marketing, export and promotional activities for the cereals and oilseeds sector in the UK.

AHDB, Cereals & Oilseeds, is based at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, along with the other divisions of the AHDB,  Horticulture, Beef and Lamb, Dairy, Pork and Potatoes.

How we operate

Funded by a statutory levy raised on growers, dealers and processors of cereals and oilseeds, AHDB, Cereals & Oilseeds, receives an income of approximately £10 million each year.  Levies are raised by AHDB, Cereals & Oilseeds, on the following cereal and oilseed crops grown in the UK: wheat, barley, oats, rye, maize, tricticale, mixed corn, rapeseed, linseed, sunflower seed and soyabean.  AHDB, Cereals & Oilseeds, funds and manages research on sustainable, competitive and profitable production for UK cereals and oilseeds, with a strong focus on existing and new markets. Great emphasis is placed on ensuring that the benefits of research are realised in practice.

The main areas of funding from AHDB, Cereals & Oilseeds, are:

Research and Development contracts awarded for:

  • Research projects which meet the objectives outlined in the R&KT Strategy Document
  • Knowledge Transfer events or publications linked to the research programme

Student bursaries and post-graduate studentships

  • Ten week and six month student bursary projects linked to a current project
  • PhD projects which meet the objectives outlined in the R&KT Strategy Document
